Abstract: THE ROLE OF EMPOWERMENT IN EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION

Objective: This study aims to (1) investigate the impact of empowerment on employee motivation, (2) identify key elements of empowerment that enhance motivation, and (3) assess the long-term benefits of empowerment on organizational performance.

Research Design: A survey design was chosen to gather detailed feedback from employees regarding their experiences with empowerment initiatives.

Sample Size: Based on Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 350 employees was selected, ensuring robust statistical analysis with a 95% confidence level and a 5% margin of error.

Case Study: The research focused on the telecommunications sector, where empowerment is crucial for service innovation and customer satisfaction.

Location: Lagos, a major telecommunications hub with a diverse workforce.

Reliability Coefficient Score: The survey instrument had a Cronbach's alpha score of 0.87, indicating high reliability.

Findings: Empowerment initiatives, such as decision-making authority, autonomy in tasks, and involvement in decision-making processes, significantly enhance employee motivation. Empowered employees demonstrated higher levels of motivation and commitment to organizational goals.

Recommendation: Telecommunications companies should implement empowerment strategies that provide employees with decision-making authority, autonomy, and opportunities for involvement in organizational decisions to enhance motivation and performance.
